Ok - this review might sound a bit bitter after having sat through 8 minutes of credits for a crappy 15 second teaser but still.

I wouldn't say it sucked, as there were still a number of "techincal" scenes where the fight scenes really rocked, but at no point was I grabbed, and the endless snogging really annoyed me. Still, if you've got the guts to stick milk-bottle tops to someone and get away with calling it a prosthetic go you!

Nice to see the loaders from Aliens making a reappearance, and some love interest for Morpheus (as long as she has a box to stand on), but the whole superman thing didn't do it for me.

Disappointed? Yes.

Aggravated that "My Industrial Matrix" has been replaced by a "Romantic Drum 'n Bass Stomp-fest"? Not really - just indifferent

Can I be more condemning...?

Matrix rejected

You feel just like I did after seeing it on one of my rare outings to the cinema.

It seems to me to be a load of cool fight scenes strung along by ropey plot and naff love interest, plus they never bother explaining stuff. What happened to tank eh? he was alive at the end of the matrix, did morpheus have a sissy fit and fry him?
Bah, humbug.

Lemon?

a waste of time

It was shite.
No electricity between the male and female leads. Fight scenes that went on too long, patterned after the model 'two lightsabre-wielding jedi are cool? Then a hundred will be cooler!'. No shape to the plot. The first hour yawningly slow. Dreadful dialogue, almost down to Attack of the Clones level in places. And don't get me started on the philosophy.
Style over substance.
I wonder if the computer game is making lots of money?

Wow, I'm not the only one who thought it was disappointing!

[livejournal.com profile] mimeticgel and Mark enjoyed it - I think their standards must be lower than mine.

Hoorah for Matrix Repeated......

....because Si and Mike tried to persuade me to see it on its release date and i chose not to go. If a film looks like it will be pants...

I will spend my money on something more satisfying.

And another thing... or things...

I sat there in the cinema with my hands around my own neck. Kill me now, kill me now! Oh gosh, look, he's flying again. Isn't this a re-run of the last fight sequence? yeah, but let him do it some more, we need to get value for money out of the FX. And who she then? Hush now, she needs screentime 'cos she's in the computer game.

rantrantrant

good choice not to go.

For me the Matrix was a glass half full...

I much preferred (and loved)the cinematography of the first Matrix, I think they sacrificed a lot of it for special effects.

I wonder with these things what the aim/motivation of the makers was and I think listening to interviews etc.. that the main one was the SFx and so the balance and harmony that was in the first was lost and it became fragmented. The philosophy, sex, and plot appeared to be afterthoughts.

And I did enjoy it..

I enjoyed the first Matrix movie despite its flaws. I was going to go and see Matrix Reloaded, but now I think I might not.

I was having an online chat with a friend of mine and we were both agreed that while bits looked cool from the trailers, Neo is now effectively Superman which means that the only way you can beat him is to take a way his superpowers using a (usually)half-baked excuse which beggars belief even within a genre which demands that belief be half strangled rather than just suspended in the first place.

I'm not entirely reassured by the trailers for the Hulk, either. Since CGI came out, movie script quality seems to have largely bitten the dust....

Saw the trailer and thought; banging choons, cool togs and fun fu, It appeared 'plot' [how onomatopoeic that word can sound in certain contexts doncha think?] anywho, plot looked as thin as yer average hollycrud actress. Will[possibly] go see it 'cos I like fu,cool togs, said banging choons and efex but no sukka punch plotastrophy is gonna git me this time. Not after Two Towers...

I was never a fan of the Hulk much, anyway, but you'd have to drug me into insensibility to get me to a theatre showing it after that trailer. In fact, that probably wouldn't be enough.

hmm, Hulk looks too damn CGItastic, like the dark Hulk thingy vibe, not gonna be as dark or cool as grey Hulk though.. but yeah CGI good to enhance a story, but not gud if it replaces story, filum makers need to get back to basics I fink.

Harry has it...
