Feeling Lucky?

I had cause to look up this article from 2003 on Lucky People - http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/magazine/3335275.stm.

Of the four top tips:
  • Listen to your gut instincts - they are normally right
  • Be open to new experiences and breaking your normal routine
  • Spend a few moments each day remembering things that went well
  • Visualise yourself being lucky before an important meeting or telephone call. Luck is very often a self-fulfilling prophecy

How many have you done in the last 24 hours?[Poll #757151]

If I had followed my gut instinct I would have run away from the presentation and hidden in a small dark room, which would not have been lucky!

...but what if you found a suitcase full of money in the room?

So far this has never been a problem in my research group's lair. Unidentified pieces of material from random PhD students who were here in the 1930s we can probably do you, but not money.
