It's particularly depressing to try and take a flattering photograph (for passport-sized purposes) of oneself. No wonder I feel more comfortable behind the lens.

Why did no-one tell me I look like this...

Ha Ha Ha.

Why do you think I have all my hair in my face in *my* picture.

A Swedish girl showed me her passport a few months back. Apparently in Sweden it is required that you turn your head three quarters and smile, which makes it look like you and the passport photographer were sharing a private joke.

Swedes are weird.

See! Hence extreme closeups are pretty traumatic too.

I challenge anyone to beat my passport photograph, which is also on my driving license as I had two of 'em left over, flattering or not. Unfortunately this getting older lark seems to be downhill all the way. Welcome to the club >:P

The current rules on passport photos don't allow for flattery.

I'm sure it's not that bad. :)

I always look like a serial killer in mine.

It's still going to be better than mine! (Which will never be seen by anyone other than officials at the airports for fear of giving innocents nightmares) I got mine in a hurry for a fast-track passport in order to fly domestically; no prep or anything. A lovely red-faced monstrosity now resides forever in my passport.

I've yet to see a 'flattering' passport photo. They're just stark uncaring representations of facial features - which is all they need to be, after all.

I feel your pain; I have to get photos for my provisional driving licence today.

Last time I got some photos done I did it directly after leaving the haridressers, which turned out quite well. Much better than the ones I did whilst commuting, which made me look like I was about to top myself. My favourites are the ones that make me look like a member of the Bader-Meinhoff group.
