It was good. Definitely an advert for what happens when you take an intelligent comic, put it in the hands of someone who cares about both media and don't worry too much about toy tie-ins.

I'm glad I waited for the cinema rather than watching a crappy version on the PC, and look forward to the expected sequel - as long as the same team stay involved. Oh, and clockwork Nazi's are great. Brasspunk ahoy!

Erm, I think that's it. I'm a bit sleepy and still have a stack of DVDs to watch. Including THX1138 & Rollerball (the original version). I know the latter won't be as good as I remember - but still...

Rollerball is just as good as ever, even though much has changed in society since it was made. The message is still there, James Caan is still great, and it's as grim as it ever was.

I've not sullied myself by watching the remake.

Remakes and 're-imaginings' should attract the death penalty.

Not always; the recent re-make of Dawn Of The Dead was an excellent film in it's own right, but I concede that it's probably the exception to the rule.

Re-makes are almostalways bad because they try and re-make good films. Why not re-make films that were a good idea wasted or badly executed, take a second run at them so to speak?

I'm a big fan of Ron P so am glad to hear that HB is gud. He is to my mind one of the best character actooors around in Hollywood and has bin for years.
Rollerball, I agree wid mr shhh on that one, it still resonates, perhaps even more so, just ignore the flares :)
Not seen THX1138 for years, but going on current practice by a certain beardy guy its prolly got musical numbers in it now :P

Mark W: Ron Pearlman is absolutely perfect as Hellboy, definately the best thing about that film.
I liked it a lot, but had a odd feeling that the beginning had a lot more money spent on it than the end.
And I hear that they haven't screwed round with THX1138 that much, added extra bits to the chase scene, made the accident bigger and flashier, but they haven't messed with the plot, dialog or actors as in certain other films. Apparently Lucas wants to get back to doing films like this, which I'll believe when I see it.
