Have some more faith in yourself! Go figure, 'somebody' has to take photos that appear in glossy mags, albums covers etc. Why not you? You can hardly argue that your photos aren't great. I have NEVER seen better gig photos. Anywhere.
Am I suggesting the obvious here, but have you compiled a portfolio CD/DVD and sent it off to as many magazines, record labels and photo agencies as possible?
I don't think I'm being negative - I think I'm being realistic - I do push photos in front of "important people" as much as possible - but there are hundreds of others doing the same thing. So at the moment I'm making an effort to get content seen (as on BBC etc.) and make contacts with smaller bands to get into the photo-shoot, album credit business.
All this and juggle a real job - but there are irons in the fire so to speak - and I can wait at least until I wear this camera out and need to get a new one!
I think I prefer the second, but thats the idea of motion and the dreads. On some of the others the prosthetics look a bit flaky but I don't want to know how he keeps them in place for a whole gig.
I'm not keen on the second - but only from a fangirl point of view. It's a good photograph. :)
I don't want to know how he keeps them in place for a whole gig. Sheer Norwegian bloody-mindedness? Calling on the aid of the Elder Gods? Something to do with that cyber-boi drummer? We may never know. ~grin~
I know. I do know it, I really do. I can't offer any explanation for this one other than that I'm just Plain Fucking Weird. I'm sorry. :)
It's not that I think he's cute because he looks like a troll. I think he's cute because he goes to all the effort of making himself look like a troll. Um. Prosthetics are sexy. I'm not helping, am I?
The nose didn't peel much at all - it used to be much worse! He must have got himself some new glue, hehe :) At last year's Bradford show he lost an ear :(
And yes, you SHOULD send portfolios out to magazines - they'd be dumb to turn you down. You really should have a chat with Pete about cameras and photography, as he loves that kind of stuff (he's on about buying ANOTHER bigger faster eviler camera!)
Any rumours you hear that I think the guy from Mortiis is Rather Nice Actually are all LIES. Lies, I tell you. Yes. And no, I am not listening to "Parasite God" right now either....
Hey, good work, man! Those are great - and the first ones I've seen of the tour so far! I'd say you've even surpassed the Infest ones :) How on earth did you manage that - considering there wasn't a single second without dry ice during the gig?? Mind if I post a link on the Mortiis forum? In fact, I think I have already, woops.

Date: 2004-09-23 03:32 am (UTC)So, how do you get to all these gigs ? A combination of self-funding, bribery, and a willingess to take a 'spensive camera into a moshpit ?

Date: 2004-09-23 03:37 am (UTC)I blag. I'm not afraid to give use of pictures to people in return for getting passes off venues using their name.
"Clients" so far are detonator.tv, local BBCs in Birmingham, Black Country & Bradford, Alternative London Magazine and some 'zines.

Date: 2004-09-24 03:49 am (UTC)It's about perseverance, reading the stage, the lights and the effects; and most of all "good luck".
The Mortiis gig had less horrible smoke than at Infest. That was truly a nightmare.
