they are all really bright, were you underexposing and then recolvering later (Like your gig methodology) or did you try and take them like that?

Most have had exposure and saturation boosts - but mainly for effect rather than to correct underexposure. All the "flash+movement" ones where manually exposed on camera anyway to be "roughly right". It was all very hit and miss.
