I am mainly looking at straitjackets. And thinking about frockcoats and stripey trousers. I'm trying not to think about all that I now know about re-enactment underwear, and moss tampons.

Also, I have discovered that multiconvectionovengrillmicrowaveplasmaelectricminiguns can cook a lovely pizza.

Finally BBC Three, last refuge of quality alternative programming from the BBC is showing The Jackal. It's awful. The only thing that keeps me watching is trying to work out how people can fail to see through Bruce Willis' awful disguises.

Tis true it is an awful film. I made the mistake of seing it at the picures. I thought it was a remake of Day of the Jackal. Shame it isn't really...

I hate it when "inspired by" means "excuse for wasting celluloid on Hollywood bubble-brains' whims". See that other Richard Gere "classic" The Mothman Prophecies, in which the dark tone and sinister supernatural elements were cut way back because they didn;t fit in with the star's religion/philosophies...

What do you need to know about straitjackets? I have one at home if you need to take a pattern or something. I also have a good book written by Houdini that describes how they were made - materials, pattern, etc - by Houdini if you're specifically after a period one.

Mine is even a little bit big for me, so I was going to talk to charlie_mouse about making one in my size; if she can and does, I could sell you mine when it's made if you like...
