Just awaiting confirmation from HR as to how much leave I will accrue by the appropriate date, but it looks like I shall be finishing current job just before Whitby.

This is a good thing. Now, what brand of shiny laptop shall I ask for from ~new job~...

Answers on a postcard please.

Mark W: Easy you need this (http://store.apple.com/Apple/WebObjects/ukstore.woa/90301/wo/YS4gddWrXbin2xyPjv92taL1QwM/0.0.7.1.0.5.21.1.1.1.1.0.0.1.0)

So do you get a rider for this new job? What else are you going to put on it, only red M&M's in your sweet tray? A mini fridge by your desk? :).

Oh 19" Apple Power Book, one of those cool titanium ones. I was shown how shiney they were recently and am thinking of demanding one as a bonus at my performance review in april.

And good point on the software front, my second choice would be a Vaio, as they are also shiney.

Second point, have you decided on a cool bag to put your laptop in? This is almost as vitally important as your choice of laptop :).

Get a Sony TR2 - I just bought one and set it up for my relatives in Scarborough. You can't get more portable (1.4kg) with a 10 inch screen - and it works well on the 19" TFT monitor I set up in their home-office.
I think CoolJules is in love with it....
Oh and I almost forgot to mention - it's 802.11g so (not as much) slow-mo wireless crap!

You get a choice? Can't go wrong with Dell.
