Last night, after having been spurned by little brother who preferred media-drinkies to dinner, I decided that rather than sit in a hotel with the TV and Private Eye I'd take the camera out for a walk.
This was mostly a good idea, and I ended up at Tower Hill and set myself the target of taking 10 photos with a wide lens, and then see what I ended up with. The best three I've put behind a cut below.
(They look a bit dark on this PC compared the laptop where I did the cropping/b&w conversion so I might sort that out when I get home - let me know what you think).

Date: 2004-08-18 01:47 am (UTC)I've just had my favourite kind of early morning wake-up at work. The kind where I casually follow a link on our website to be confronted by erect members (and I don't mean our local elected councillors standing upright). Porn-at-work trauma.

There's nothing at all "right" about the way you're thinking, that's for sure...
*shudder*
It probably was the councillors' orgy. It wasn't on my screen for long. Just long enough for me to squeak "porn alert" and share with the team.

Date: 2004-08-18 02:50 am (UTC)I think they're great. They're such an improvement on earlier ones because you've composed them better. You might not have thought you were, but you're *seeing* the picture, rather than the image, if that makes sense. Congrats!

Date: 2004-08-18 03:49 am (UTC)I certainly could! Still, I found a nice little organic Italian eatery.
I was definitely trying to "see the picture" more - and be very aware of DoF, and also to try and end up with a 6x4 proportioned image I liked rather than just crop to a different shape.
Onwards & upwards - and back to the completely different pace of gig photography this evening; though I'm looking forward to a slight variation in shooting a play next week.

Date: 2004-08-18 06:49 am (UTC)Tragically they weren't :-)
I walked past them once, after a brief stop thinking "I want to do something with them"; and on the way back tried a handful of different angles but this is the one I like the best.
