If he was leaning forward and down, wouldn't the lighting be different? Morefrom behind him? Just a guess :)
Yeah - realised that when I switched my brain on shortly after posing.
Would a round £600 be good for 8 hours shooting plus 30 (max)photos? Just trying to get a rough figure...
The other thing I forgot to say is that the copyright should NOT be given away that cheaply. Yes - £600 for "use" but if you're giving away copyright and effectively granting a perpetual use license then you should be looking at more. I'll forward you a couple of emails I've come across from a mailing list about this.
3 of my Black Mass photos made it into the article on Satanism in this month's Metal Hammer, but without a credit or cash. Honestly I wouldn't have cared about the cash if they'd pimped my URL, but now that can't happen I'm wondering what to do. I'm trying to find a reasonable figure so I can multiply that by 3 and send them an invoice, as thats what other people have suggested. However, they ended up in the mag due to a middle man (the company one of my housemates works with) so I need to pursue that avenue before writing "threatening" legal letters ;)
Sucks. You should sign up for http://www.grassrootsx.com/ - there's loads of opportunities for good advice there - ask on the forums.
Based on reading that LJ link I'd suggest that a "negotiaion" is a good way forward. Get an idea in your head then call the picture editor.
Thanks a lot for the info and e-mail. I'm going to run it by my housemate (who works for Redemption, who passed on the photos to Metal Hammer) and see what happens that way. They owe me cash anyway, they've used my photos for promotion, albeit credited.
I don't really want to sour the environment at home, but if I don't get a favourable response I'll be following it up.
