Last Night
Feb. 5th, 2003 06:15 pmAfter completely failing to remember what I did last Thrusday, I've decided to sort yesterday out today. In the style of a drunk monkey at a typewriter.
Went to work, went to Bicester, hung around in carpark opposite MOD installation, occassionally looked up the road to where I'd passed the parked police car to see if they wanted a "Little word" with me yet.
Collected
lupercal, drove back to Oxford, drove through Oxford, found car park, narrowly avoided being run down by large crocodile of foreign students going back for their bus.
Walked into Oxford, looked for cinema, bought paper, read cinema times, walked around some more, bumped into colleague from work who I'd met that day, we both said hello, neither of us remembered our names plus of course I had a (mature) sk8er boi in tow.
Found bus map, located cinema, walked back to cinema, found we'd almost walked past it, decided to see About Schmidt.
Had hours to kill, found Waterstones, "Bank of
kneeshooter" loaned
lupercal for latest Robin Hobb, bought more socialist sci-fi and some old stuff.
Still had 2.75 hours to kill, ate dinner, ate more dinner, ate more dinner (yes - that's 3 courses!), then went to find coffee elsewhere to kill time.
Drank coffee, made phone call, killed conversation, went back to car after potential phone problem, sat in car for 10 minutes.
Went back to cinema, found film was sold out, cursed selves for not buying tickets earlier, went to see 8Mile again.
Sat in tiny cinema with folding chairs and no drinks holder, watched cinema fill with students, listened to student's conversations and got depressed about state of nation, understood more of film this time.
Motherf*cked out of cinema, back in car, to Steeple Claydon, feared and despaired, locked doors even though travelling at 40mph and was calmed.
Deposited
lupercal and sped home, passed burning Fiesta, pondered stopping and whether it was a Morlock trap, did stop, checked for corpses after assuming petrol tank had already exploded and unlike in the movies real cars aren't made of C4.
Assuming anyone in it was dead, and forensic evidence was destroyed phoned Directory Enquiries for Police, phoned Police, was told they would send somebody to have a look, gave me details, avoided Morlock trap.
Drove home, fast, though paying attention for Police cars coming the other way. Got in late, tip-toed around house, read som "Nine Princes in Amber". Slept.
Ta da!

Date: 2003-02-05 04:04 pm (UTC)I quite enjoyed it - though having flicked through the RPG has helped in understanding some of the concepts (I think!)
That's cheating
Date: 2003-02-06 01:45 am (UTC)Real men do it the way I did, getting really early printings out of the library which don't list the order in which they should be read, and read them in a random order, making it a real challenge. Of course, I was only wee at the time ...
