Grrrr - sometimes I hate ebay. I decided, on a whim and while only half awake last Saturday, to buy a couple more memory cards. In the end I won two cards from the same supplier who said in VERY BIG LETTERS "I do not combine shipments to save postage costs" which is a bit cheeky but fine.

Now today I get an email saying "Because you bought two items and one is out of stock I have delayed postage".*

wtf?

Consistent story please!

* This is a translation of course from the actual message which was ALL CAPS and missed some key components of basic English spelling and grammar.

Last night I went to another normal gig. More about that when I do my week music catch up later - as being Thursday I need to write up last weekend.

Some people on ebay suck!

I bought something like 2 eyeliners & 2 lipsticks recently. It said p&p was 95p for the first one and then 45p for each additional one - or something. So I clicked to buy them but then it didn't give me an invoice with the additional ones being 45p, it charged me 95p for each. When I sent payment I asked if she could send them recorded delivery at all since I'd paid the extra. But then when she sent them she sent them regular mail - and I noticed that the p&p for all of them together was only about 47p! So I got charged almost 4 times the amount really. Pah.

I shouldn't moan I suppose. at least I got sent them. But I hate it when people rip you off with postage costs. And I paid more than I should have so I think she should have sent it recorded delivery - especially knowing how much of my mail goes missing when it's sent regular.

You should tell him you want that one mailed to you since he says he doesn't combine shipping anyway.

That's an enviable amount of memory. I'm duly envious. :-)

On multiple postage - I had a similar problem myself (only my seller lied beforehand when I asked if he combined, then turned around at the end and he wouldn't). You should insist they send the items separately. If you hadn't paid - you could also pay for each separately - I think it means more charges for them than a combined payment.

Not combining shipment means not packaging them together. There are varied reasons for not doing so, mostly due to weird postage bandings - but that's by the by. What you may be missing is that going to the post office to ship stuff is a royal pain in the ass - so your seller is not necessarily being inconsistent, you may well still get both items packaged separately, they just may not want to make two trips, especially if they're a low-volume seller. Remember that in the main, ebayers are people, not corporations!

(Having said that, it does seem a little odd in this case....)
