I think they're being a bit too optimistic there. Much as I would love to welcome our new robot/AI overlords.

I doubt we'll ever create true artificial intelligence, we understand the real thing too little and can only really comprehend it in metaphor.

But surely we'll get to the point where what we have created cannot be described in any other way - so the term bends even if it's not literally true?

But surely that would be more of an enbiggening excercise than a good use of terminology. "Well, we're never going to achieve what we want, so we'll not and say we have".

Unless it's just like what Mr Gibson said it would be, I ain't buying it ;)
